Create An Engaging Fiction Book Trailer: A Guide for New Write

Most writers, both new and seasoned authors, struggle with the task of creating a compelling book trailer. Done correctly, book trailers represent a powerful way to promote undiscovered works of fiction and capture the attention of potential readers. A well-crafted trailer can enhance the overall marketing strategy for your book, thereby giving it a visual and emotional dimension that resonates with audiences in search of new books within their favorite genre. Let’s explore five key steps to help new writers produce an effective fiction book trailer that not only showcases the essence of their story but also entices viewers to dive into the pages of their book.

Step 1: Know Your Audience and Message

Before diving into the creative process, take time to understand your target audience and the key message you want to convey. Identify the core themes, emotions, and unique elements of your fiction work. Customize your trailer to resonate with the interests and preferences of your potential readership. Think like they think, that is to say, process their “method of processing”. Young minds think fast and impatiently. Older minds require more in-depth explanations and analysis.

The book trailer included with this article is the entire book Prologue. That won’t work with teen romance readers. However, religious minds over 50 absolutely love it and generally watch it more than on. Whether it’s mystery, romance, spiritual, or fantasy, align your visuals, music, and narration with the tone and atmosphere that creates a cohesive and immersive experience.

Step 2: Keep it Concise and Captivating

In today’s fast-paced digital era, where attention spans are fleeting, capturing your audience’s interest is crucial, especially within the context of creating books and book trailers. Despite short attention spans, individuals willingly invest time in activities like watching an hour-long movie or engaging in lengthy text conversations. This insight underscores the importance of tailoring your book trailer’s duration to highlight the most compelling and pivotal moments of your story. Optimize your trailer with dynamic visuals, captivating music, and expert narration to craft a narrative that captivates viewers and leaves them eager for more. Offer intriguing glimpses that ignite curiosity and immerse viewers in the captivating world you’ve crafted. While mindful of time constraints, avoid compromising your message. If your trailer resonates, viewers will gladly invest the time to explore what lies within.

Step 3: Invest in Quality Production

While it’s not necessary to have a Hollywood-level budget, investing in quality production is crucial. The closer you get to 4K, the better. Clear, high-resolution visuals, professional narration, and fitting music contribute to the overall impact of your trailer. Consider enlisting the help of professionals for video editing, ensuring a polished and visually appealing final product. This can be done on FIVERR, for instance, for a fraction of the cost. A visually stunning and well-produced trailer reflects positively on your book’s quality, enticing potential readers to explore your work further.

Step 4: Utilize Online Platforms and Social Media

Once your fiction book trailer is ready, strategically share it across various online platforms and social media channels. Upload it to your author’s website, YouTube, and book retail sites. Leverage the FREE reach of social media platforms to engage with your audience directly. Encourage sharing and interaction. But also set aside a small budget (invest in yourself) to buy exposure. A well-promoted book trailer can serve as a powerful tool to build anticipation, generate buzz, and ultimately drive readership for your fiction work. But people have to see it.

Step 5: Don’t Let Technology Lock You In The Dungeons of Old

The technology is moving at lightning speed. We’re learning something new each day … except, some of us are not learning at all. We’ve thrown up our hands, resisted the new tools, and locked ourselves into a dungeon of ineptness and despair. This will invariably lead to a dead end relative to your writing career and creative aspirations. Let’s make this clear. You DON’T have to know everything. You DON’T have to embrace ALL of the tools. However, you do need to immerse yourself in the basics. What is 4K? What are the different aspect ratios (vertical horizontal video sizes) that YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok use? What is a video SHORT teaser? What is royalty-free, no copyright, public domain music and how do I get it?

Your book trailer is a huge extension of the marketing process. Don’t sell yourself (or your book) short. You’re not locked out. You can do this. You can make your next book an incredible find for your potential audience. Let’s GO!!!

BUSINESS VIDEO MARKETING: TAKING YOUR BUSINESS IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA IN 2022?

#Business Presentation Video #Video Marketing #Business Promo Video Video marketing for businesses is huge, and growing. Over  720,000 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube each day.  A phenomenal 5 billion videos are watched on YouTube every single day. Remember the expensive television ads that businesses used to fight over. New surveys show that 6 out of 10 people prefer online video platforms to live TV. The writing is on the wall. At some point, you will have to make a decision about entering the big video party room, or being locked out of the room where all your customers are engaged in a grand buying frenzy ... with your competitors. ---------------------------------------- Business Video Party
A Realistic Entry Point Into Business Video... No one's going to teach you all the aspects of entering the big party room, at least, not in one sitting. So let's laser down to the basic "entry-level" question: "Who will be the face of your business in front of the camera?"
Depending on your product or service, this is not an easy question. Your product may require high-level expertise that is difficult to communicate to the masses. You don't want some hard-nosed, grumpy-faced technician trying to sway emotion-based customers to buy from a person they instinctively don't like or trust. At the same time, you don't want some silky-sweet, flimsy-dressed model type that takes the customer's mind off the product completely. For the sake of expediency and the strategic thinking you have yet to employ, let's not plunge into deep waters just yet. Let's not answer the question of who your spokesperson should be, not today. Instead, let's step back to visualize the attributes your spokesperson should ultimately possess.  Let's look at a replica of what the audience or potential client should see. ------------ This talented young woman is at the top of her game as far as visual communication, voice, and eye appeal. Back in the early tv network day, when we prepped clients on how to present themselves during a television interview, some political, but mostly corporate and business, this is the epitome of what we wanted them to project ... confident, comfortable, precise, empathetic ... Just basically mastering the art of "when" to smile, this, as a minimum baseline. She projects the whole package. Watch the hands. Watch the head rock. This comes with a great deal of work (Michael Jordan building a gym in his house "work".) You can get there. But it's not easy. It is not natural. Now that you see what you need, you may commit to the on-camera training or commit to hiring a spokesperson that's the right fit for your organization's on-camera presentations. What you can't afford to do is commit to nothing and get locked out of the big room. ---------------------------------------- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4JX7KyCkcs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvDxQEN8Hms

Another flawless performance by one of the masters.

Your Brain Is Begging To Be Set Free

#Health Before Business Long before FIFTEEN CRITICAL INSIGHTS FOR BUSINESS OWNERS OVER 50, I've observed older would-be entrepreneurs put themselves into a restrictive, age-related productivity jailhouse. "I'm too old to think like I used to..." STOP SAYING THAT! … Unless you want Albert Einstein (who changed the whole world at 76) to jump out of the grave and beat the living oldness out of you. I will gladly serve as his assistant to hold you down. Just say you are set in your ways and unwilling to take advantage of the incredible research-driven super-foods, synaptic rejuvenation supplements, and tech-driven exercise techniques to revitalize your brain functionality and explode your “thinking power”. SAY IT! BEFORE ME AND EINSTEIN BEAT YOU INTO THE GROUND. There are so many clinically-proven, game-changing remedies these days. Black beans, walnuts, quercetin, dark chocolate, ashwagandha, pumpkin seeds... AND yes, egg yolks loaded with choline can actually help to change your wife’s bad mood.  I would dare not take credit for the compilation of effective solutions these guys have shared. Just take your time and follow each link. Help yourself to free information that will enhance your brainpower, and perhaps, change your life. Men and Lovemaking ... A Writer's Question

Much more comfortable spying and driving fast and blowing things up....

I wrote this a couple of years ago for KING JUBA'S CHEST. It brought a smile because I do remember with painstaking detail the three nights in a row I struggled to capture this scene.

Here's my question: Men are supposed to be the aggressive ones, the sexual animals of the jungle. But when it comes to writing about it, why do male authors have such a hard time? I've talked to other authors and they agree. It gives us the creepies.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soon they were hugging and kissing and making love right there on the sofa in front of the fireplace. Every dark thought and splinter of doubt was swallowed up in a surreal evening of inflamed passion. The clock began to march forward again, stealing back the precious moments in which it had languished on hold. The logs surrendered to the sweltering flames, serenading their ears with tiny explosions of joy.

Where was the laziness of time when you really needed it? She thought. Why didn’t it reassert its meddlesome repression and stretched the night into eternity?

Just before they fell asleep, Nicholas raised up from his pillow. “You had something to tell me?”

Exhausted, and floating in her own enchantment dream world, Lola tried to focus. “Huh?”

“You came to the store today to tell me something. What was it?”

“It wasn’t important.”

“Are you sure?” he persisted.

Lola thought about how small her test score seemed in the scheme of things. “I’m sure.”

“Okay. But remember, if you need to talk to me about anything, I’m always here.”

Indeed, he was ... right here.

“Are you sure?” he persisted.

Lola thought about how small her test score seemed in the scheme of things. “I’m sure.”

“Okay. But remember, if you need to talk to me about anything, I’m always here.”

Indeed, he was ... right here.

She snuggled in his arms and fell asleep.

Biblical Scholars In Search of Truth Will Love The Nephilim

DO A GOOGLE SEARCH ON "THE NEPHILIM"

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm weird ... a writer's trademark I'm told. But this is some exciting stuff. The research for Exorcism At Midnight Book Two has been extraordinary. Here's another excerpt:
(Also check out Genesis 6:1)
----
He slowly unveiled the mystery of lust, power and supernatural disobedience.

In an ancient corridor of time, just after the Garden of Eden and just before the great flood, a dark spiritual schism had arisen. Irresistibly attracted to the beautiful Cainite women of earth, a powerful angel named Samyaza had led a group of Watcher angels down from the heavens. Against God’s order, these angels transformed themselves into human-like creatures, and using secret spells and irresistible forms of seduction, mated with the women of their choosing. The resulting offspring were the Nephilim, half human giants with physical superiority and military might. They soon began to take dominion over mankind.

Writing The Book Is Half The Job

I spent some time the last two days getting ready to promote my new book, plus an old one, for the Labor Day Weekend. If you're a writer, you should too. It's an excellent time to catch the potential reader with a relaxed mindset. Remember, writing the book is only half the job. It's important to let potential audiences know what you have to offer.

One huge step in the process is to define your audiences. I do hope you wrote the book so it appeals to more than one. The thing is, everyone is looking to satisfy a specific need, to be frightened, inspired, exposed, taken on a new adventure, encouraged to laugh, etc. So any promotion should appeal to that need. I see so many promos from new writings saying I just finished THE BIG BEAR IN THE WOODS, and it's ready for download on Amazon. I want to contact them and say, wow, that was a big waste of time.

Don't make things too complicated. Just look at your book and look at the needs of your audience and highlight how your book meets those need. One of my books I styled as "Gut-wrenching laughter" for anyone who has been in a serious relationship. And then I ended with this appeal to the audience's enduring sense of hope that one day they might find a compatible mate:

Every reader that has loved and lost and even won in the eHarmony crap-shoot called dating will see the flickering light of hope beckoning them to open their heart and climb aboard the old romance bus one more time.

As you can see, I'm appealing to at least two specific needs ... the need to laugh and the need to sustain, against all odds, the legitimate  hope (critical emotion) of finding someone in the future. This is the kind of appeal that should be incorporated into every successful promotion.

Finally, here is a sample of one of the many images I used to reinforce the humor side.

Okay .... Good luck with your promotion. You can see the same appeal process with my new paranormal  book here:

Drag Your Readers Into The Slime. They'll Thank You Later

I'm working on my new book for 2014. In the process I talked to a young writer asking about the boundaries of description and the risk you might offend the reader by being too vivid or gory. I'm not a fan of gory. I love vividness, however. It comes down to knowing your audience. Most readers are searching for an escape from their boring, humdrum, methodical, politically correct world. They want reality without blinders, but (and this is critical) not to the extent that reality triumphs fairness and good.

So I say to new writers, break out of the box, walk the tight rope, drag your readers into the slime. Show the hurt and despair and tragedy in life. Present an uncut reality. They'll thank you later.

-------
EXCERPTS FROM THE NEW BOOK ... Let's just call it "Pinky" for now.

Over in Brazoria, a third patrol car pulled up in Jason MacDonald’s front yard and parked behind the ambulance. All of the blinking red light had coalesced into a battery of cannons, strafing the countryside with flashes of impending doom. Vehicles had already started to line up along the side of the highway. Neighbors with expressions of curiosity and dread streamed down the long driveway, speculating in whispers about what had gone wrong.

As the fire truck’s hydraulic lift hoisted Jason MacDonald’s bloated body to the surface, the whispers dissolved into hysterical screams. His wife, Jean, fell to the ground in a trembling knot, coughing up brown slime all over her blue flowered dress.
